The foundation stone of S.D.G.D. College, Benipur, was laid in 2019. The vision of this institution was brought to life by Babu Bishwanath Singh Sharma, who helped establish this prestigious college in Bihar.

S.D.G.D. College, Benipur, offers education in Social Sciences, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Commerce, from Intermediate to Postgraduate levels. The college spans 25 acres in the heart of Benipur, which is known as the industrial hub of Bihar. Since 1976, it has been a part of L.N. Mithila University, Darbhanga. Initially, the college was part of Patna University when it began in 1945, and later became affiliated with Bihar University and Bhagalpur University. In 2001, the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized it as an "Old and Reputed College."

College Admission

S.D.G.D. College offers courses from Intermediate to Undergraduate levels for both boys and girls in various streams like Science, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Postgraduate courses in some subjects are expected to start soon.

Admissions for Intermediate classes begin after passing the 10th grade. For Graduation, students must have passed Intermediate in Science or Arts.

Required Documents for Admission:

Photocopy of Marksheet & Admit Card.
Three recent passport-sized photos.
PH Certificate (only for PH candidates).
Original School Leaving Certificate (SLC) or College Leaving Certificate (CLC), which must be submitted at the time of admission.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a Tri-Services organization that includes the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It grooms young people to become disciplined and patriotic leaders. The NCC's history goes back to World War I when the British formed the University Corps to have a trained pool of youth for defense.

After India's independence, NCC was officially established on 16th April 1948, under the Ministry of Defence. The Girls Division was added in July 1949, the Air Wing in 1950, and the Naval Wing in 1952. Today, around 13 lakh cadets are enrolled in NCC.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit was established in the 1977-78 academic session to combine academic learning with social service. There are currently three NSS units, including a women's wing, involving over 150 students.

Students involved in NSS must participate in camps and other activities as directed by the NSS officers. Some of the key activities include:

Community cleanliness drives.
Civic awareness programs.
Adult literacy programs and night schools.
Plantation drives.
Rural development schemes.
