Janta Koshi College, Biraul was founded in 1968 to provide higher education in a remote area affected by floods. In 1980, it became a part of L.N. Mithila University, Darbhanga, up to the degree level. The college was created with the aim of offering quality education to the children of poor and backward communities, especially from SC and other marginalized groups in Biraul. The college has three main buildings and has developed facilities to meet the educational needs in Science, Arts, and Commerce up to the degree level.

The college’s main focus is not just academic excellence but also the overall growth of individuals and lasting life fulfillment. Our aim is to ensure a better future not just economically, but in terms of a complete, peaceful, just, and happy life for all. We help students face life's challenges with courage, calmness, and faith in God.

Janta Koshi College, Biraul, Darbhanga, was started by the local community and administration on 15th August 1968. Over the past 47 years, the college has grown steadily, and today it is a well-established institution with 4,000 students in regular courses and over 2,000 students in distance learning programs. The college has 45 staff members. The success of the college is due to the combined efforts of management, staff, students, and parents. Together, we are dedicated to nurturing the minds, hearts, and souls of the students in our care.

The college has well-equipped classrooms and laboratories. The computer lab and library facilities are sufficient for students' needs. Sports and games are also part of college life. The college is planning to introduce NCC. There are separate common rooms for boys and girls, and staff rooms for teaching and non-teaching staff, which are key features of the campus.
