D.B.K.N. College, Narhan, located in Samastipur, Bihar, was established through the vision and efforts of Shri Ramji Mishra (Assistant Station Master, Narhan Railway Station) and other local dignitaries, including Babu Janardan Prasad Singh. They approached Shriman Diwan Bahadur Kameshwar Narayan Singh of Narhan State, urging him to promote education in the region. As a result, Shriman Babu generously donated 15 bigha 4 katta 16 dhoor of land to the college. Initially, the institution was named "Rani Rajineeti Kunwar Mahavidyalaya," after his wife. However, following Shriman Diwan Bahadur Kameshwar Narayan's untimely death, the college was renamed "Diwan Bahadur Kameshwar Narayan Mahavidyalaya" in his honor.

The college began its first session in June 1970, with leadership from Babu Rajvanshi Prasad Singh as the founder secretary and Shri Narmadeshvar Mishra as the principal. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, granted the college affiliation up to the intermediate level in Arts and Science. The college achieved impressive results in its first session, with 95.3% of students passing due to the dedication of its scholarly teachers. Over the years, several distinguished principals, including Dr. Jaidev Jha, Dr. Mahesh Mishra, and Prof. Yadunanandan Prasad, contributed to the college's growth. On May 1, 1981, the college became a constituent unit of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga, and has been affiliated with UGC since 1983.

Programs & Courses Offered

Intermediate Courses:

The college offers intermediate education in two streams: Science and Arts. Each stream has 512 seats, with Science seats divided between Mathematics and Biology students (256 each). Students must select two compulsory subjects and three optional subjects, each carrying 100 marks. The degree is awarded by the Bihar School Examination Board (Senior Secondary), Patna.

The college provides Honors-level teaching in 20 subjects across three faculties:

Commerce: Accounts, Marketing
Arts: Economics, English, Hindi, History, Home Science, Maithili, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, Sociology, Urdu

Degrees are awarded by L.N. Mithila University, Darbhanga.
