In January 2017, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Shree Nitish Kumar, initiated the Bharat Net Scheme in the state, followed by the announcement of free Wi-Fi services in colleges across Bihar in March of the same year. The scheme was officially launched on March 22, 2017, coinciding with the 105th year of Bihar Divas, by the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
The Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Bihar, not only provides access to the internet through the National Knowledge Network (NKN) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India but also offers an additional alternative with a Free Wi-Fi facility of 10 Mbps under the "Saat Nischay" scheme initiated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
